Compatible Implants: 4.75mm posterior thoracolumbar rod-screw systems (CoCrMo)

Product Introduction

This foundational instrument set is designed for posterior thoracolumbar fixation using 4.75mm cobalt-chromium-molybdenum (CoCrMo) rod-screw systems.

Comprising 42 precision tools, it supports the complete surgical workflow—from anatomical localization and bone channel preparation (awling, drilling, tapping) to rod insertion, contouring, reduction, and final locking.

The instruments are manufactured from high-grade stainless steel, ensuring corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. Critical components (e.g., taps) undergo ion nitriding for enhanced surface hardness and wear resistance.

Emphasizing comprehensive functionality and optimized compatibility with CoCrMo systems, the set includes multi-size bone preparation tools, universal reduction components, and a precise locking system, providing reliable support for mild to moderate instability corrections (e.g., fractures, spondylolisthesis).

Features

Material Excellence:

Instruments are made of premium stainless steels (05Cr17Ni4Cu4Nb, 420B, 316L, 304), offering high fatigue strength. Electropolished surfaces minimize tissue friction and adhesion.

Multi-Size Bone Channel Preparation System:

Includes tapered awls, 2.5mm straight/curved awls, and 3.2mm straight awls. Dual diameters and straight/curved designs accommodate varying pedicle screw sizes; curved awls bypass transverse process interference for improved trajectory accuracy.

Soft and rigid probes feature blunt tips to assess pedicle channel depth and wall integrity. The flexible soft probe minimizes trabecular compression, while the rigid probe provides tactile feedback to detect cortical breaches.

Precision Positioning & Imaging Tools:

Ball-tip and column-style imaging pins enhance radiographic clarity. Pin holders include a locking mechanism for secure placement and reduced positioning error under C-arm guidance.

4.75mm Rod-Specific Instruments:

Rod benders and in-situ benders (left/right) enable precise contouring to match thoracolumbar curvature, minimizing stress concentration and fracture risk.

Tapping Efficiency:

Four tap sizes (4.75, 5.0, 6.0, 6.5mm) feature deepened flutes to optimize bone chip evacuation and reduce clogging in mixed corticocancellous bone structures.

Modular Organization:

The instrument case is compartmentalized according to the surgical sequence (positioning → bone preparation → rod-screw operation → reduction/locking). Laser-engraved slots reduce retrieval time and miscount errors.

Advantages

Enhanced Pedicle Probing Accuracy:

The dual-probe system (soft/rigid) adapts to varied bone densities—cortical in thoracic and cancellous in lumbar regions—reducing pedicle breach rates and nerve injury risks.

Optimized Operative Efficiency:

A T-handle with quick-change coupling and dual-ended set screw drivers shorten locking time. Pre-contoured trial rods (200mm/500mm) minimize intraoperative trimming and bending.

Improved Reduction & Correction Outcomes:

Hinged spreaders (L/R), compressors, frog clamps, and double-joint rod rotators enable 3D vertebral manipulation, enhancing correction rates in scoliosis and spondylolisthesis reduction.

Cost & Reusability Benefits:

One set supports all spinal levels, reducing the need for segment-specific instruments. Compatibility with mainstream 4.75mm CoCrMo systems lowers inventory costs.
