Application: Treatment of for Tarsal Bones
Product Introduction
The Two-Hole Polyaxial Locking Plate is a low-profile, anatomically contoured titanium plate designed for foot and ankle fracture fixation.
It features polyaxial locking screw holes (conical 30° design) that allow screws to be angled up to ±15°, enabling a fixed-angle construct while accommodating complex fragment geometry.
The plate and matching locking screws are made of titanium alloy with a Type II anodized finish for strength and corrosion resistance.
This design creates a rigid bone–screw–plate assembly that provides stable fixation even in osteoporotic bone. The plate’s rounded edges and highly polished, low-profile surfaces minimize tendon and soft-tissue irritation during and after healing.
● Polyaxial Locking Holes: Conical screw holes with internal threads accept locking screws at variable angles (up to ±15° off-axis).
● Spherical Threaded Screw Heads: Locking screws have a threaded, ball-shaped head that engages the plate hole in any direction, creating a stable fixed-angle construct once locked.
● Type II Anodized Titanium: Plate and screws are made from biocompatible titanium alloy and surface-anodized (Type II) for enhanced fatigue strength.
● Self-Drilling/Tapping Screws: Screw tips are sharp and self-tapping, reducing the need for pre-drilling and simplifying implantation.
● Anatomic Contouring: Plate geometry is pre-contoured to foot/ankle anatomy with beveled, rounded edges to lower soft-tissue irritation.
● Low-Profile Design: Slim plate thickness and smooth finish help minimize prominence under the skin.
● Interrupted Thread Design: Locking holes use discontinuous threads to reduce the risk of cold welding between the screw head and plate.
High Stability: The direct locking of screw heads into the plate yields a rigid, fixed-angle construct that resists fragment displacement. This offers more stable fixation than conventional plates and is especially beneficial in osteoporotic or comminuted fractures.
Variable-Angle Flexibility: Surgeons can aim screws in any direction within the ±15° cone to capture optimal bone purchase and accommodate fracture geometry. This personalized trajectory improves fixation in challenging cases.
Minimally Invasive Fit: Because locked screws stabilize fragments without requiring the plate to press tightly against bone, periosteal blood supply is better preserved and soft-tissue disruption is minimized.
Soft-Tissue Friendly: The low-profile, polished plate with rounded corners greatly reduces tendon and soft-tissue irritation, enhancing patient comfort.
Simplified Instrumentation: No separate locking sleeves or inserts are needed – screws lock directly into the plate – which streamlines the surgical steps.
Re-Fixation Capability: Locking holes allow screws to be removed and reinserted if needed without loss of locking strength.
Anti-Rotation Stability: Using two proximal screws can secure a bone segment against rotation, aiding fixation of small fragments.
Safety: Interrupted thread design and direct locking minimize risk of screw loosening or cold welding, lowering hardware complications
Indications
The 2-Hole Polyaxial Locking Plate is indicated for internal fixation of fractures in the forefoot and midfoot, including:
● Metatarsal fractures
● Tarsometatarsal joint injuries
● Osteotomies in the midfoot
● Comminuted fractures requiring multidirectional fixation
● Revision procedures in cases of poor bone quality or implant loosening
