Model Number: 110010
Material: PEEK
Application: Indicated for ACDF treatment of cervical disc disease from C2 to C7
Product Introduction
The Cervical fusion cage (Insert-type) is a stand-alone PEEK interbody spacer designed for anterior cervical fusion procedures.
It combines a hollow PEEK implant (with pure tantalum radiopaque markers) and two titanium alloy anchoring clips. Inserted between two cervical vertebrae, the clip-type design exploits a distraction-compression stabilization mechanism: the cage expands the disc space while the clips lock into the adjacent endplates.
This firmly anchors the device against rotation and shear, providing immediate segmental stability. The hollow interior allows generous bone graft packing to restore normal disc height and cervical lordosis, creating an optimal environment for solid fusion. PEEK’s near-bone elastic modulus reduces stress shielding and encourages trabecular ingrowth, while the tantalum markers ensure clear radiographic visualization of implant position.
Features
● Immediate Fixation and Stability: Self-locking titanium clips drive vertically into the adjacent vertebrae, clamping the cage in place. This rigid anchoring resists rotational and shear forces and provides instant postoperative stability.
● Large Graft Volume: The insertable spacer is hollow with ample internal space, accommodating substantial bone graft material to promote fusion.
● Zero-Profile (Intra-Discal) Design: The cage sits entirely within the intervertebral space, eliminating any overhang. This intra-discal “zero-notch” profile (no need for an anterior plate) minimizes soft-tissue irritation and reduces the risk of dysphagia or adjacent-segment ossification.
● Textured Endplates: Serrated/wave-like teeth on the implant surfaces enhance initial fixation by gripping the endplates, further preventing migration.
● Radiopaque Positioning: Integrated pure tantalum marker pins make the device fully visible on X-ray, while the PEEK body remains radiolucent. This allows surgeons to verify implant placement intraoperatively and to monitor fusion progress clearly on postoperative CT/MRI.
● Bone-Compatible Elasticity: Constructed of PEEK (polyetheretherketone), the cage has an elastic modulus close to bone. Its elastic cushioning promotes uniform bone apposition and reduces stress shielding at the bone-implant interface.
● High Fatigue Strength: The materials are fatigue-tested for long-term load-bearing. The design supports sustained axial loads without implant failure, ensuring durability until solid bony fusion occurs.
Advantage
● Minimally Invasive Insertion: The Uni-C cage has a slim leading edge for easy insertion through a small anterior approach. Dedicated instruments allow precise millimeter-scale depth adjustment, increasing insertion accuracy and safety.
● Flexible Sizing: Available in multiple footprints and heights (10 size options), the system lets surgeons choose the optimal cage dimensions for each patient’s anatomy.
● Reduced Dysphagia Risk: Since the entire implant fits within the disc space and no external plate is required, there is minimal anterior hardware protrusion. This design significantly lowers postoperative swallowing difficulties.
● Avoids Anatomical Obstacles: Clips are driven vertically from above and below, avoiding interference from the jaw or clavicle even at high or low cervical levels.
● Imaging Compatibility: The PEEK body causes no MRI artifacts, and the radiopaque markers ensure the implant can be tracked on all imaging modalities.
● Stress-Shielding Reduction: The PEEK cage’s bone-like modulus and internal graft volume encourage fusion. This has been shown to improve bony integration compared to rigid metal implants.
● Long-Term Stability: The combination of robust materials (PEEK and Ti-alloy) and self-locking clips provides durable fixation during the entire fusion period.
Application
The Cervical cage is indicated for anterior cervical interbody fusion (ACDF) in skeletally mature patients. It is intended for use in the treatment of cervical degenerative disc disease or similar pathologies (e.g. disc herniation, spondylosis) at one or more contiguous levels from C2 to C7. It provides immediate segmental stabilization and restores disc height during the fusion process.
