Tapered Starter 5.5

Model Number: EAB01

Compatible Implants: Suture anchors

Product Introduction

This specialized kit is designed for minimally invasive soft tissue repair procedures in shoulder, knee, and hip joints, focusing on the precise and reliable implantation of suture anchors.

It includes 9 core instruments that cover the entire workflow: cortical opening, bone tunnel preparation, anchor insertion, and suture management.

Constructed from high-strength stainless steel and titanium alloys, key components (e.g., bone awls, taps, and drill bits) feature specialized surface treatments to ensure smooth bone tunnel preparation and initial anchor stability.

The kit emphasizes minimally invasive access, precision anchoring, and efficient fixation.

With tapered awls, labral guides, and modular aiming systems, it enables safe and accurate anchor placement in complex anatomical regions (e.g., glenoid labrum, rotator cuff footprint), reducing surgical trauma and optimizing the biomechanical environment.

Ideal for rotator cuff repair, labral reconstruction, ligament reattachment, and capsular plication.

Features

Material Excellence:

Instruments are made of premium stainless steels (05Cr17Ni4Cu4Nb, 420B, 316L, 304), offering high fatigue resistance. Electropolished surfaces minimize tissue friction.

Precision Guidance & Positioning System:

Modular aiming devices ensure critical surgical steps are controlled. Labral guides provide angled drilling pathways, while positioning pins and ball-tipped guide pins work in tandem to achieve planned anchor depth and trajectory—even in challenging areas like the glenoid rim or acetabular labrum.

Minimally Invasive Bone Tunnel Preparation:

Tapered awls create initial cortical openings with minimal bone loss. Dedicated drill bits prepare precise tunnels under guidance, and matching taps pre-cut threads for seamless anchor engagement. The process maximizes bone preservation and minimizes soft tissue disruption.

Enhanced Anchor Stability:

Pre-tapping creates fully matched thread paths, reducing insertion torque and preventing micro-fractures. Controlled impaction with a bone hammer ensures anchors achieve target torque and initial stability, mitigating risks of postoperative loosening.

Streamlined Workflow Management:

All tools are systematically organized in a dedicated case for sequential intraoperative use. The workflow includes: awl-based access, controlled impaction, guided drilling, and tapping—creating an optimized mechanical environment for anchor deployment.

Advantages

Enhanced Surgical Accuracy:

The 3D guidance system (labral guides, positioning pins, and ball-tipped guide pins) minimizes angular and depth deviations during anchor placement. It addresses blind-spot challenges in arthroscopy, particularly in high-risk zones (e.g., posterior-inferior glenoid), improving biomechanical outcomes.

Bone Preservation & Minimal Invasiveness:

Tapered awls enable blunt cortical penetration, reducing bone damage. Depth-limited drill bits and pre-tapping preserve bone integrity and avoid repeated adjustments.

Superior Anchor Stability:

Pre-tapped threads lower insertion torque, eliminate micro-cracks, and enhance bone-anchor interface contact. This improves initial pullout strength and reduces the “false locking” phenomenon, cutting 6-month loosening rates.

Optimized Surgical Efficiency:

Quick-connect mechanisms on guides enable rapid assembly. Helical-fluted drill bits prevent clogging, and non-slip handles with standardized interfaces support single-handed operation. Overall procedure time is shortened—especially in multi-anchor complex repairs.
