Product Introduction
Minimally Invasive Percutaneous Pedicle Screw System
Product Overview
This system product consists of pedicle screws, titanium rods, set screws, and other components. The pedicle screw is designed with a through cannulation along the central axis of the screw body. This cannulated design enables minimally invasive percutaneous pedicle screw internal fixation technology. It offers advantages including reduced surgical blood loss, minimized muscle and soft tissue dissection, alleviated postoperative pain, faster recovery, smaller incisions and scars, and shorter hospital stay. Moreover, it preserves the benefits of satisfactory reduction and strong fixation from internal fixation surgery. Patients can ambulate early, which facilitates rehabilitation training and enables earlier return to work.
Spinal minimally invasive surgery is characterized by precise operation, minimally invasive treatment, rapid recovery, and small traumatic area.
Primary Function
The main purpose of this product is to restore vertebral anatomical position and physiological curvature, while bearing partial or full physiological loads, in patients with lumbar diseases such as vertebral fractures, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, and spondylolisthesis. Specifically, through a posterior surgical approach, pedicle screws are implanted into the vertebral bodies via the pedicles of the thoracolumbar vertebrae. Manipulation of the pedicle screws enables distraction, compression, lifting, and reduction of the vertebrae, thereby restoring vertebral anatomical position and spinal physiological curvature. The rod can be passed subcutaneously into the U-shaped slot of the pedicle screws using rod insertion instruments and locked with set screws, connecting and fixing the rod to the pedicle screws. This forms a stable structure that partially or fully bears the biological loads at the affected spinal segment, providing a stable biomechanical environment for fusion and fixation of the thoracolumbar spine.
All components are made of TC4 titanium alloy material.
Pedicle Screw
The pedicle, as the strongest bony structure connecting the vertebral body and the lamina, and the Denis three-column theory, have become the cornerstone of modern internal fixation. Pedicle screw internal fixation technology can fix the anterior, middle, and posterior columns of the spine, stabilizing the intervertebral disc and the two facet joints – these three mobile parts. Through the distraction and compression effects between the pedicle screw on the short-segment internal fixation device and the longitudinal connecting rod, it provides three-dimensional correction and strong internal fixation, restoring the normal alignment of the vertebrae while maximizing the preservation of mobile spinal segments. Pedicle screw internal fixation technology has been widely used in the treatment of diseases such as spinal fracture-dislocations, spinal deformities, lumbar spondylolisthesis, and spinal instability.
Spinal Rod
The rod is the bridge for connecting and transmitting spinal loads and is an important component of the spinal internal fixation system. The titanium alloy rod has relatively high stiffness, better maintenance of sagittal and coronal plane biomechanical performance; minimal memory effect, less prone to springback after bending, making it suitable for maintaining physiological curvature; and good biocompatibility while ensuring fixation strength.
Set Screws
Standard set screws, break-off set screws, and reduction set screws are provided. The break-off structure of the break-off set screws and reduction set screws ensures consistent locking force, avoiding the risk of inconsistent locking force caused by manual operation.
Pedicle Screw Types
Pedicle screws consist of a screw body and a screw head. There are two structural forms between the screw body and the screw head: one is a fixed screw structure with integrated screw body and screw head, such as fixed screws; the other is a non-fixed screw structure where the screw body and screw head are connected by a spherical hinge, such as multi-axial screws.
Multi-axial screws can expand the intraoperative screw placement positions and angles; facilitate easier rod placement during surgery; the multi-axial structure can provide a good biomechanical environment for vertebral fixation, reduce the probability of stress shielding, and improve the flexibility of intraoperative operation.
This system provides multiple options. Doctors can choose different configurations, pre-bent rods of different lengths, and pedicle screws of different diameters and lengths according to different patients.
